Tamil Tiger Chief & Tamil Eelam National Leader Velupillai Pirapaharan is likely to make an important policy statement shortly, according to the LTTE leadership in the east. Seeralan, a top LTTE military leader in the east, last week said that Pirapaharan had been patient during the recent confrontations in the east but was expected to make an ‘important statement’ soon.

The Tigers made a tactical move from most of the areas under their control in the east and are now moved into areas around Toppigala, west of Batticaloa and jungle areas between Trincomalee and Batticaloa Districts.
