mvsyd1.jpgMore than two thousand australian tamils attended the Maveerar Day, a remembrance day for the fallen heroes  held today, the Saturday 28 November 2009 at 6.30pm at Parramatta Park, Sydney, reports said. The Maveerar day commemoration began with a minute of silence for all those who lost their lives in the national struggle for self determination, said a report. It was followed by the lighting of lamps in memory of the fallen heroes and all those who lost their lives in the decade’s long military struggle. The lamps were lit by the sister of B.Nadesan, Political Head of LTTE, brothers of Lt. Col. Amuthap and other Maveerar family members. The sacrificial flame was lit by B.Nadesan's sister.

The event was marked with songs in praise of the fallen heroes and dramas relating the sufferings of the people during the Mullivaikal conflict.
