Sri Lanka planning more illegal rendition operations in foreign soil says Rohan Gunaratna, Singapore PDF Print E-mail

rohangunaratna.jpgIn an interview to SBS Dateline, Rohan Gunaratna a Sri Lankan currently living in Singapore, who is very close to Sri Lanka's Defence Secretary Mr Gotapaya Rajapaksa said, "Yes. I can share with you that the Sri Lankan Government is already planning to bring a number of other people home." He also further gave some insider information on the arrest of Tamil Tiger Leader Kumaran Pathmanathan or KP and confirmed that he has been abducted in Malaysia,"..KP was taken directly from Malaysia on board a Sri Lankan flight. He flew on business class to Sri Lanka - in style! .."

Sam Zafiri from Amnesty Internation says, "..Sending someone back in these circumstances is also unlawful and violates international law. If there are charges to be brought, if there are people who should be pursued, then the Sri Lankan Government should make sure that it goes through proper legal channels for that. .." " What we have is an unlawful process that takes somebody suspected of doing criminal action or human rights violations basically outside the law, and that makes it vigilantism, that makes it vengeance, but it doesn't make it justice.
