Chennai, Dec. 30 (PTI): The execution of former Iraq President Saddam Hussein was the result of a hurried judgment and "injustice borne out of anger", Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi said today. "The capital punishment awarded to him, which should have been reviewed and given up, has made Saddam Hussian a great hero," he said in a statement.

If somebody were to point out that hundreds were killed during Saddam's reign, history's answer was that King Asokha had turned a Buddhist only after he killed many people during the Kalinga War, Karunanidhi said.

The US, now hated all over the world, could have followed the example set by Alexander the Great, when he did not harm King Porus after annexing his kingdom, Karunanidhi said.
