More than 1000 australians participated in the ‘Uyirthezhuvom’ rememberance day in Sydney PDF Print E-mail
'Ezuka Tamil ezukave, engkal Eelam emakku vendum' meaning 'rise up Tamil rise up, we want our Eelam' is the main slogan of today’s agitation. More than thousand Tamils participated in today’s 'Uyirthezhuvom' Tamil up rise campaign in Martin Place, Sydney. The rally started with inner prayers for the dead Tamil brethren and fallen heroes in the war.
A resolution also was read out at the event calling to free the displaced ethnic Tamils incarcerated in detention centres by the Sri Lankan government, to release the detained LTTE fighters, supporters and suspects, and to investigate the alleged war crimes in Sri Lanka. Also it was resolved that coexistence of Tamils within Sri Lankan polity is not possible anymore and Eelam is the only solution.
