Melbourne : "Communal Lament" - An inter-faith meeting of prayers of grief for Tamils of Sri Lanka

"The War Without Witnesses estimate based on first-hand information obtained from government-run hospital authorities, police and judiciary sources in Vanni, the North East Secretariat of Human Rights, aid workers and credible media outlets confirms more than 3546 innocent Tamils have been killed and more than 8370 injured by SLA since January 1 2009."
The honour of your presence at an inter-faith meeting of prayers to remember thousands of innocent Tamil civilians in Sri Lanka who have been killed as a result of the ongoing civil war. The communal lament to be held jointly in the faiths of the victims, namely Christian and Hindu, will also offer supporting prayers for those who have suffered the loss of loved ones and their homes.
Date: Saturday 18th April 2009
Time: From 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm
Venue: Hungarian Community Centre, 760 Boronia Road, Wantirna, Victoria

The programme would include the statement of intent of the meeting, a period of silent prayers, inter-faith communal prayers lead by Christian and Hindu religious leaders, a poem, a song, sharing of grief, short speeches by Australian community leaders, final prayers by Bishop Hilton Deakin and vote of thanks.
