The Mount Lavinia Chief Magistrate, yesterday, barred Mr. Lalith Kotelawala, the chairman of the Golden Key Credit Card Company, a subsidiary of Ceylinco Consolidated, from leaving the country and noticed twelve persons, including its board of directors, to appear in court.Magistrate Harsha Sethunga made this order on Lalith Kotelawala and Sicille Kotelawala -- two members of the board of directors of Golden Key Credit card Company -- following a report filed by the Criminal Investigation Department.
The court also issued notice on twelve senior officials of the company, including its finance director and deputy chairman, to appear in court on January 6. Complaining of alleged financial irregularities at the Golden Key Credit Card Company, the CID in its report informed court that, although the account records of the company indicated Rs. 5.7 billion in deposits, the actual amount should be more than that. The CID investigation was initiated on a complaint made by the Investigation Officer of the company, M. M. S. Oththanapitiya. |
