parramatta.jpgStrike Force Panima has been established to investigate two incidents that occurred in Sydney's west yesterday.About 6.30pm a cash-in-transit van was parked outside a bank in George Street, Parramatta. Two of the guards have entered the bank and were approached and threatened by two men, both carrying firearms and wearing dark clothing with hoods and beanies. It is alleged one of the guards shot at the men who then ran from the premises. As the two armed men ran from the bank it is alleged a third guard waiting outside the premises has also fired his weapon.

The two offenders have escaped into a white Mitsubishi Lancer that was waiting outside.

A short time later, a 25-year-old man was taken to Auburn Hospital by an unknown person. The man was suffering a gunshot wound to the chest. Upon arrival at the hospital he was pronounced dead.

The white Mitsubishi Lancer which police believe may have been used as the get-away-car was located burnt out at Berala.
