Ilaiyaraja was ruling the Kollywood in the 80’s. Then, little by little, he reduced his speed. A.R.Rahman’s fever spread faster than Ilaiyaraja’s Music! During this time, even the leading Directors moved away from Ilaiyaraja. The main reason was Ilaiyaraja used to hear the whole story and would suggest changes in the story. If, they were not accepting the changes, he would not give his full cooperation it seems.
Then, there was time, when whoever had Keyboard could become a Musician. In spite of facing stiff competitions, Ilaiyaraja’s younger son Yuvan Shankar Raja attained very good name. He developed to such heights that he gets a Salary of 1 Crore for each film. Now, he is very seriously involved in the creation of his Private Album. On the other side, there are other Music Directors like Harris Jayaraj, Vidhyasagar and Devi Shri Prasad etc. Now, Ilaiyaraja’s flag has begun to fly high. At present, he has 18 films in his hands. He is very busy in the languages such as Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam etc. It is a matter of surprise that Earlier, Ilaiyaraja would not go to outdoors for Music composing works. But, he also has begun to change his style. He is staying in the Boathouse in Thiruvananthapuram to compose the Music of these films. It is sure that-He will return to Chennai with some rocking tunes.
