Oftentimes international alliances will be formed when nations discover a common enemy, cooperative profits and/or region threats. Why then is the world united to fight against the minority Tamil people in Sri Lanka? Historical analysis would be hard pressed to find worse odds facing such a small group of people.
The news is buzzing about a high level team being assembled by Sri Lankan Prime minister Ratnasiri to meet Palestine leadership. In years past, Ratnasiri was a bona fide arch rival of Palestinian leadership. Israel also appears to becoming involved in efforts to squash the Tamils. Recent days have seen the Sri Lankan Army commander visiting with officials of India as well as top generals from the Pakistani army. Not to be outdone, the Iranian President is set to visit the “failed terror state” of Sri Lanka early next month to break ground on Iran foundered projects. US also in the giving mood of a 12 million dollar, US funded program for so called “development projects” in East and central Sri Lanka. Russia has made available a 500 million dollar soft loan program for the failed state while the Ukraine is standing by with arms to sell all for the express purpose of eradicating Sri Lanka of the minority Tamils. The beat goes on and on. All world enemies are united on the eradication front of Tamils in the failed state of Sri Lanka. Why are these nations united against the Tamils of Sri Lanka? What divisive actions have the Tamils committed to prompt these nations, who under most circumstances are at extreme odds with one another, to unite to destroy them? Are the Tamils just becoming the unlucky margin on the political front of today’s new world order? Will these people be wiped from the face of the earth for the sake of global leaders who wish to appear cooperative in the global fight on terrorism? This cannot be true, because Iran does not believe in global fight on terrorism. The assembly of these nations behind Sri Lanka to fight the minority Tamils brings back memories of the plight of another group who faced similar odds in recent history. That group is the French Freedom fighters who rose to resist the invasion of Nazi Germany during WWII. Imagine for a moment an unheard of policy shift, the Allied forces turned against this small, local resistance. That would be clearly impossible. The troubling aspect of this picture is that failed policy leads to a small country with an even smaller minority people group having bombs dropped on their roof tops, killing helpless families. Clearly, the beast has gotten out of control here as minority groups are wiped out in order that opposing nations might save face in the global theatre.
