Tamil : Mahinda's war on Tamils took 36 innocent tamil civilians life in first fortnight of Jan 07
mahi.jpg36 civilians were killed and 27 were disappeared in the first fortnight of January 2007  by Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapakse's war on Tamils to eradicate the minorities from the Island. Eight civilians in Batticaloa, five civilians in Trincomalee , two civilians in Mannar, eight civilians in Vavuniya and thirteen civilians in Jaffna were killed. A further 27 civilians were disappeared by the Sri Lankan operated forces in Tamil homeland.

Dear Mr. Blake,
I had an opportunity to review your later dated Janurary 18th, 2007 to the Island newspaper. Earlier, the Island newspaper (on January 16th) and an editorial (on January 17th) carried out lead news articles claiming that LTTE, with the help of some underground gangs, used information from the United States Entrance Visa application to abduct Sri Lankan citizens for ransom money based on the financial statement given by the Visa application. The Island newspaper futher claimed that this was done under your leadership with your full knowledge at the US Embassy.

India Bollywood : Racism or not, Shilpa Shetty is making news in Britain Big Brother

Indian actress Shilpa Shetty may appear lost and out of depth as she prepares half-cooked chicken on the reality show 'Big Brother', but desi voyeurs in Britain have flooded broadcasting authorities with complaints of racism by others in the house against her. Britain's broadcasting watchdog Ofcom is investigating nearly 200 complaints about alleged racism against her even as strong opinions are being expressed on Asian radio stations and websites in her support. Asian radio station Sunrise received several calls on a phone-in on Sunday from viewers, complaining about racism against Shetty.

The Sri Lankan military says troops have captured a key Tamil Tiger stronghold in the east of the country.
Thousands of Tamil civilians are fleeing the town of Vakarai, which has been the focus of heavy fighting for several weeks.

Sri Lanka airforce yet again strike hospital complex in east, tamil civilians injured
Vaharai hospital complex and surrounding areas came under artillery attack by the Sri Lankan armed forces on 18 January 2007 from morning till afternoon. Six civilians, who had taken refuge in the hospital complex, were injured. when the SLA fired artillery from Mankerny and Kajuwatta military camps.
