Australian investigators probing the execution-style killing of 17 aid workers exhumed two bodies from a cemetery in eastern Sri Lanka on Saturday, officials said, as clashes between ethnic Tamil rebels and security forces killed a soldier and an insurgent in the troubled north. Police Saturday also said that seven civilians have been shot dead over the past two days in northern Jaffna, long a flashpoint for violence in the Sinhalese-dominated state's near-two decade war with separatists Tamil Tiger rebels. |

In the wake of current escalating, Sri Lankan Government State sponsored death squads ( White Van ) operating in North East of Sri Lanka and massacaring voiceless innocent tamil civilians, Formet Attorney General of Sri Lanka, Mr. Siva Pasupathy, blasted Govt for not adopting UN declaration of human rights, in a public meeting held in Homebush, Sydney, Australia. He further stated that, it was in 1948 that this was formulated after the world war II and it is unfortunate that even after 50 years, Sri Lankan Judicial System is not embaracing this great concepts.

The first ever tennis event between JHC Oldboys Association Sydney and Hartley College was held recently at the Southend Tennis Club, Enfield from 9am to 1pm. JHC OBA Sydney had regular tennis practice sessions over the past few weeks and the JHC OBA team consisted of 18 players (10 adults and 8 children).

In any war the opposing sides are, expectedly, highly intent on coming out the winner. The battles that take place can often be bloody and cost both sides thousands of lives. The lives that are lost are not only those of combatants, but almost always include heavy civilian deaths. A sad reality, but one that, thankfully, some wealthy countries and humanitarian organizations try admirably to avert or help with.
