The Australian, South Asia correspondent, Bruce Loudon describes war savy Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s move to build a 'Jumbo' cabinet with 105 members our of 225, to smash tamils as follows;
Cabinet deals target Tamil Tigers
HOPES of a peace agreement with Sri Lanka's Tamil Tiger rebels faded yesterday after weeks of political horsetrading led to mass defections from the parliamentary Opposition to the Government and the swearing in of a new "jumbo" cabinet with 105 members.

The military machinery and the Sinhalese collectivism of the Buddhist State has abridged the dignity of the people of Jaffna to the subhuman condition. Imposing economic embargo and closing the A9 highway it has blocked the supply of food, medicine, fuel and other essential commodities for the normal life of the people. Even the pregnant mothers, newborn babies, bedridden sick are being deprived of their food. The Sri Lankan Government has made the Jaffna Peninsula as an open prison and deliberately and systematically torturing them and making their lives bitter day by day.

US calls for Sri Lanka, Tamil talks

The United States says a military solution to Sri Lanka's ethnic conflict is not possible and has called on the government and Tamil Tigers to hold talks. US ambassador to Sri Lanka, Robert Blake, told a meeting of international aid donors the US hopes Sri Lanka will seize the opportunity to forge a power-sharing proposal.

This is the first song SHINE Group ever wrote in Tamil and English. The song defines the Tamil people’s struggle in Sri Lanka. SHINE Group are Tamil refugees from Sri Lanka and they feel that it’s their duty to make a song about Tamil people’s struggle.

Sri Lanka is changing the demographics of the east with international assistance.
As he promised earlier this month, Sri Lanka’s military Chief General Sarath Fonseka has successfully captured LTTE controlled Vakarai and established a secure military hold over a large chunk of contiguous territory in the eastern province. With Vakarai in military hands the land from Trincomalee down to the Verugal river is now officially ‘cleared.’ At least for now.

Sri Lankan troops stop and search civilians in the northern town of Vavuniya. Harassment of Tamils by the Sinhala security forces is rapidly increasing in government controlled parts of the Northeast and in Colombo.

Sri Lanka Harbour of Colombo under attack - Navy claims destroying 3 boats

Three to five attack boats Saturday morning entered the outer harbour waters of Colombo Harbour and launched attacks on Sri Lanka Navy vessels. Big explosions were heared, according to the crew members of a cargo ship. Sri Lanka Navy claimed to have attacked and destroyed 3 "suspicious boats" moving towards restricted waters off Colombo, around 5:40 a.m. A Panama registered container vessel PELOPONESIAN PRIDE, approaching the harbour, was slightly damaged in a explosion shock. A search operation was launched by the Sri Lanka Navy and the Sri Lankan Air Force after the explosions, that come 3 months after an attack on Galle Harbour.

Veteran lyricist Vaali, who has working with over three generation of actors, is one of the proud recipients of the Padma Shree awards announced by the Central government for this year.

Still young at heart, Vaali has penned lyrics for over thousands of songs beginning from MGR till S J Suryah and Silambarasan.

The Free Media Movement (FMM) is deeply concerned and vigorously condemns the continuous custody of Mawnasamy Parameshwaree (23), a female freelance journalist working for the weekly Sinhala Newspaper Mawbima (http://www.mawbima.org/), who is in police custody for 60 days without any charges against her. After producing her in Court on 23rd January , we note that Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) obtained an extension to her detention order for another 90 days.
