The arrest of Tamil community leaders in France on 1st of April and the raid carried out by the French Police of the Paris office of the Tamil Rehabilitation Organisation, the TTN Television station, the office of the Tamil Coordinating Committee and the Hindu Temple in Paris come as a shock to the Tamil Australians. It is unjust and unreasonable to arrest Tamil community leaders and raid Tamil Institutions which are duly registered in the country and were providing humanitarian assistance to the victims of state sponsored terror in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka: Thousands of Tamils defy Paris protest bar
fr_pr_01_60791_435.jpgOver 2,000 Tamil expatriates gathered in front of the Eiffel Tower Monday, despite the authorities’ cancellation of a planned protest rally to condemn the arrests by French police of several Tamil activists for raising funds for the LTTE. The protestors gathered in nearby public places, blocking traffic. Although the protest’s cancellation had been publicised on Tamil radio and television by the rally’s organisers who told expatriates that permission would be sought anew, several thousand people converged on the city centre, defying orders to disperse, to condemn the arrests on April 1, a week after the LTTE airstrike on Katunayake.

Tamils have a De Jure State - An Interview with Karen Parker
karen_parker.jpgby The Tamil Mirror, Toronto, March 2007
I never truly have understood, however, why so many other countries would go along with this agenda at the expense of the Tamil people and why the UN forums or personages who finally do speak up, are so vague.
